Project Description:

On October 16, 2019 SFO implemented a new and improved gate numbering system across the airport. It switched from the previous gate numbering system that was a continuous numbering system across all terminals and concourses, from 1 to 102. The new gate numbering system breaks gate numbers down to specific concourses and boarding areas within each terminal using an alpha-numeric format with the corresponding boarding areas(A—G), and a sequential number relative to its location from the checkpoint to the end of the concourse.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Coordinated, executed and implemented multi-phase planning, design and construction of the new gate renumbering system across the airport.

  • Designed and created exhibits for interfacing with a diverse set of stakeholders, all the way from Airport executives to custodial staff.

  • Coordinated and managed consultants across disciplines like structural, electrical, civil, special systems, experience and wayfinding designers.

  • Created bid documents, coordinated and managed subcontractors through out the implementation of the project.
